Bacon Wrapped Asparagus

Good Monday Morning! Today’s recipe is a new one for me but has already been made in my kitchen many times! It is very simple, presents well and is oh so delicious! A great recipe for your holiday meals and events! Read the recipe to the end, if you aren’t an asparagus fan you can use the recipe for just the bacon! ENJOY!

Bacon Wrapped Asparagus recipe adapted slightly from a Trisha Yearwood recipe

12 fresh asparagus spears, ends trimmed
3 slices bacon
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Directions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees

Divide the asparagus spears into twos, you will have 6 bundles. Carefully wrap 1/2 piece of bacon around each bundle, starting about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the tips. Lay the bundles in a baking dish.

In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, soy sauce, garlic salt and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil. Lightly brush the hot sugar mixture over the asparagus bundles. Place in the oven and roast until the spears have begun to wilt and the bacon looks fully cooked, about 35 minutes.

I always have extra sauce. I brush this over bacon slices and place on a foil lined baking sheet and bake at the same time as the asparagus! So delicious! ENJOY!
