Cheeseburger Rolls

“What could we accomplish if we knew we could not fail?” ― Eleanor Roosevelt

Happy Wednesday! Wishing you a day full of possibilities!

Today I am sharing a well-loved, tried and true old recipe! I have been making these for quite a long time and they are always a big hit! Don’t let the yeast dough intimidate you, it is simple to do and well worth the time! ENJOY!

I also make these with adding cooked chicken, veggies and cheese in place of the meat mixture, yum!

2 packages yeast

1/2 cup warm water, run the tap until you can’t leave your finger under the water

3/4 cup warm milk (110 to 115 degrees, same temp as water above)

1/4 cup sugar

1/ cup unsalted butter

1 egg

pinch of salt

3 1/2 to 4 cups flour

1 pound ground beef

1/ cup chopped onion

salt, pepper and onion powder

1 8 ounce can tomato sauce

shredded cheese (about 1 cup)

Dissolve yeast in water and let sit for 5 minutes. Add in the milk, sugar, butter, egg, salt and half the flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. Knead until smooth and elastic about  to 6 minutes. Place in a greased bowl and turn to coat the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled about 30 minutes.

Cook the beef, onion and spices until done. Add in tomato sauce and set aside.

Punch dough down, divide into 10 to 12 pieces. Roll each piece into a 5 inch circle. Top with cheese and beef mixture. Bring dough over filling and pinch edges to seal.

Place seam side down on a parchment lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise again until doubled about 20 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Delicious!
