Oatmeal Cookies with Maple Frosting

All that I have ever seen teaches me to trust the creator for all that I have not seen. Ralph Waldo Emerson

Welcome to Monday and a brand new week! I hope that you take time to enjoy the beauty in the small everyday moments around you this week!

Today I am sharing a recipe I have shared before. It is a much-loved recipe from way back! It is not Fall in my home until I start making these cookies! The “secret” ingredient is using Pure Maple Flavoring! The only place I have found this is King Arthur Flour, you can order it online.

I am making Fall boxes up to send and these cookies had to go in the boxes! Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed and they will most likely become a favorite in your home as well! ENJOY!

Oatmeal Cookies with Maple Frosting

1 cup butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups flour

1 tsp. baking soda

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

3 cups old-fashioned oats

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Combine the flour, baking soda and spices and add the butter mixture. Then add the oats. Place on a cookie sheet with parchment and Bake 10 minutes, they will look slightly under done, its ok take them out. Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for 1 minute. Then spread each cookie with the frosting.

Frosting:

1/2 cup butter melted

2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1 to 2 tsp natural maple flavoring; the bottle is in the picture below, King Arthur Flour sells it, DO NOT substitute artificial flavoring, your cookies will not taste good!

1/4 cup milk (I have used water in place of milk and they turn out just as yummy, if they are to be mailed I use water)

Mix all together adding the powdered sugar slowly, you might not need it all and you might want a little more than called for, I like my frosting thick. Spread this deliciousness on your cookies! ENJOY!
