Proud Moments

I wrote the following post yesterday. ENJOY your day!

Debbi K.

Today (Monday morning) is my daughters last day of high school! I made her banana bread for breakfast, her favorite. I packed her last high school lunch with a note of course! She left early as they were having a senior breakfast at school. I tried to keep busy in the morning so as not to feel what it really meant and to keep my tears at bay.
Later I will be leaving to attend the Senior Awards Ceremony at the school. My daughter knew I was coming but said there was no need for me to come. Well I was still going no matter what, then last week I received a phone call from one of the sweetest people we have met at the school and she was calling to tell me my daughter would be receiving an award in case I wanted to attend. She also said they didn’t want me to tell my daughter about this. This was a difficult task but I managed to pull it off! I had called my mother and father and they both were planning on attending as well but unfortunately my mother is in the hospital. I am hoping and praying I can keep my tears away and save them for the car ride home!
I am feeling all the normal emotions of watching my daughters high school years come to a close. I am crying many times a week right now but mostly I am beaming with pride. Pride in raising a beautiful person to live in this world and go out looking to make a difference. Pride in a child who always wants to make people smile. A child who has the biggest heart in the world!
My daughter is going to study Psychology in college. She wants to help others; it has been her goal in life for quite some time now.
I am also proud of the daughter she is to me. She is my wonder beyond words. She loves me unconditionally and cares for me like no other person can. My pride swells when I see the friend she is to others. She will jump hurdles to be there for her friends, always putting her needs last.

She is a beautiful sister as well, caring for her siblings through all.
She is also God’s daughter and she does a beautiful job of spreading his love, his word.
I could go on and on about how wonderful she is! I am proud of my senior for all her accomplishments in her 18 year journey and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her!!!
Added note (Monday evening)….I attended the ceremony, no tears! My daughter received The Prize award for showing God’s love on and off the soccer field. The Plaque reads: The Prize, my daughter’s name, “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
