Sugarless Applesauce Bars

Wishing you a bright and beautiful Thursday!

Today I am sharing a recipe from my Nanny’s (grandmother) recipe box. I feel so honored to have both her recipe boxes! I treasure each recipe, especially the ones in her handwriting! She made these bars a lot and they were always well-loved for those who couldn’t indulge in the sugar treats! They would make a great breakfast treat as well. My daughter suggested leaving out the Splenda and not replacing it, I’m going to try that another time! If you left it out perhaps you could use sweetened applesauce. ENJOY!

Sugarless Applesauce Bars (adapted slightly)

1/2 cup butter, softened

1 TBSP Splenda

1 egg

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 cup flour

1 cup quick cooking oats

2 tsp baking soda

2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp cloves

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla

recipe calls for 1 cup raisins (I don’t use)

Dissolve the Splenda in the applesauce. Combine all the ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased 8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown. YUM!
