Summer Tea

Today I am sharing one of my most favorite things with you! TEA! I love tea, all different kinds and brands. Today I am sharing a stand by favorite and a new Summer tea that I just discovered.

I have been using tea from the Eastern Shore Tea Company for many, many years now. I have given several kinds for gifts too. The one I use most often and especially in the Summer is called Back Porch Iced Tea. I have been purchasing it in Annapolis for many years at the Baltimore Coffee and Tea Company. It is the tea they use if you go in and get an iced tea to go. I recently found it at Wegmans too. It comes in a small bag or in bags that make a gallon of tea, I use the gallon bags. I boil 1/2 gallon water and right after it comes to a boil I take it off the heat and add the tea bag and steep for 5 minutes, then add it to a 1/2 gallon cold water. If making sweet tea, add 1/2 to 1 cup of sugar to the COLD water, when you add your steeped tea it will dissolve your sugar.

My newest tea discover comes from the Teavana store. Limeade Twist is one of their Summer flavors, delicious tea! If you like lime you will love this tea! It is also a pretty loose tea, see picture below. To make this iced, I use 4 tsps. of tea and 1 to 2 tsp. of sugar. Boil water, about 1 1/2 to 2 cups, Pour over the tea and sugar and steep for 5 minutes. I use the Teavana Perfect Tea Maker, this allows you to steep your tea then it drains just the liquid from the bottom into your cup or pitcher, you could use a tea ball and get similar results. To get more bang for my tea buck after I steep and place the liquid tea in my pitcher I re-use the tea leaves and add more sugar, this gives me about 1 quart of tea for a pitcher full. If you like tea you MUST try this tea for the Summer, it is light and refreshing!

ENJOY!
