The Reading Nook

After all, there is no enjoyment like reading. Jane Austen

I enjoy reading. I have not been reading enough in the last few years and this year I am trying to remedy that! I recently joined a book club and this little gem was the first book of the group. Oh my, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I normally read the same authors which are light, easy reading. I am trying to read more books/authors that leave me thinking and leave me with good life lesson questions! This was one of those books!

Welcome to the world of Harold Fry! The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce is a must read! Harold is a recently retired gentleman who lives with his wife Maureen. They are not the best of friends at this moment in their lives and they irritate each other! Harold receives a letter from a co-worker he hasn’t seen in over 20 years. Queenie is writing to say goodbye as she is in Hospice care. Harold sets out on a journey like no other. He has an encounter that leaves him deciding to deliver his message to Queenie in person. The hospice is 600 miles away! He believes if he walks, she will live. Harold meets many people along his journey. He learns something about his feelings through each of these people. It will leave you thinking about your own buried feelings!

I think this book should be on everyone’s to read list! It will not disappoint! ENJOY!
